hi guys

so i'm like... IN CHINA. wtff mannnng!
and i guess ive been meaning to write here but its a combination of laziness and not knowing what to say and doubting that anyone reads this and not wanting to double post things on tumblr AND here. i'm much more regular on my tumblr i swear :)

kris0ten.tumblr.com

okay?!?!?! see i thought i was super clear about that site but then david was like... you have a tumblr? so i reiterate :)
people have been saying that the inevitable split of amoeba is nigh. (insert timothys NOOOO!)
i dunno. i wont label it. it is what it is! :) but in general i still love and feel loved by amoebans so alls well.
so i'll talk about china! i forget what i've said to who already. and i'm so lazy i dont like to repeat myself. but i'll do it. just for youu thats how much wo ai ni :D <3
i made friends with James on the plane. he looks sooo badass with his piercings and his almost adorable penchant for beer, but he's real nice so he really entertains me. the flight wasnt bad, i slept 10/14 hours. stopped over in HK and then flew to shanghai. the place im staying is beautiful, part of the general foreign concession area and built in like... 1937? but remodeled by pepperdine. i pretty much live in a mansion. i room with amanda, cherie (her roommate from last year), and calif (in my religion class last year) - we are 4/5 asian girls in the program right now hahaha and we're all in one room :) but its chill we still hang out with everybody and we're in the central room with the balcony that everyone walks by so people stop in and its fun. everything i do here is an adventure. finding my way home, finding something to eat, shopping for essentials - every time i complete a basic task that i take for granted back home, it feels like a huge victory. this is not as frustrating as i expected. so far we've mostly been attending orientation sessions and being led around and exploring and stuff. the people are fun in general. i dont get why everyones idea of fun is drinking.... - -' i mean its legal and all, but every dayyyy everyones like lets go to a bar.... and i'm like... dudddeee... hahaha isnt there anything else to do.. but i'm being sociable! i go with them and its pretty fun, they dont overdo it thankfully. and ive had a sip or two. i havent decided if id want to try more. it tastes nastayyy. the food is pretty good - not quiiite what i'm used to at home, but way way way better than pepperdine food! and its dirt cheap too! mmm delicious :) if i get freshman 15 at all, now is the time! hahaha

intensive chinese classes start in the morning and then we start real classes thursday so i'm kinda waiting for the homesickness to hit me and the honeymoon/vacation feeling to wear off. i dont want it to hit! for now i'm just having fun and i like it. i dunno. i hope i still do well when routine kicks in. update later i suppose ^-^ i hope you guys are rocking/will rock sophmore year!
hugs!

Hey guys! I don't know if anyone really checks this anymore, but for those of you guys who still have faith:

I'm really excited about sophomore year! It feels really nice to come back to campus and be familiar with the people/places/food/etc. Plus, I have a single room this year, which is pretty nice.

I can't believe that another summer has come and gone (where does the time go?) I had a great time in China (if you look at the attached picture, you can get a good idea of how well my brother liked it too. He's eating ice cream at this really really incredibly awesome restaurant that we went to. And no...we did not spend ALL of our time eating with family members...we also...took showers...and slept...and took taxis to go from one restaurant to another...err....)

Anyways, I hope your summers are going great, and for those of us in school already, have an amazing second year!

See you guys around!
