My rise to geekdom.
So I joined the Sword Club. Not fencing or kendo or anything, but a club that does events with PVC pipes, PVC foam, and duct tape. (Thanks Bernard. Though you guys always slurred the V and I've always thought it was a B.) The club has two practices, one in the afternoon on Friday, where everyone watches you, and one at night on Monday, where the only people who see you doing Sword Club are the other Sword Club people.
I stayed for like 5 minutes at the first Friday meet, but couldn't stay. I simply couldn't bring myself to do it. I did stay for the night one, seeing as no one would really know.
There are rules, like torso hits mean you died, and you can't aim for the face. They play games based around this type of thing, like Free For All, Capture the Flag, Duels, etc.
It was
the geekiest thing I've ever done.
