BOOM chika BOOM
BOOM! It's totally thundering and lightning here right now... summer storms. They stink. Because you still have to go to your classes in the thundering rain and walking that far just isn't fun. *sigh*...
So i've finally been in college for more than a whole week! Things are going great. I get to go to my forum for the first time today, i'm so excited. :D The last few days have been awesome... Tracie went home for the weekend so I had the room to myself which was really nice. It sucks that she wasn't feeling well... but having the room to myself and not having to worry about whether i wake someone else up was so liberating! So eddie and i would stay up till like 5 in the morning just talking and watching movies or playing games and stuff. He's helping me on my chinese so i've definitely improved so far. yay! So far i know my colors (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, white, black, gray, brown, and pink), working on my directions, and then just random phrases. He's such a good teacher and he's funny (altho he makes fun of me all the time... jerk) so i like hanging out with him.
I'm making so many more friends! In my classes i've started hanging out with people from my chem class and chinese class which is great. Especially since my chem lab is so late and i do NOT want to walk back by myself. Eddie said he'd walk me there and back if he had to. What am i... a flashing target for muggers?
The other day we had "Breaking in the Turf" which was Olympics for our complex: Harrington A-E, Lane and Thompson and we played games like basketball, kickball, flag football, and all that good stuff. it was a lot of fun. but poor eddie was going to catch the ball but it was thrown too far so as he was going for it he crashed into a bench! >< style="font-style: italic;">still going to swim practice. jeez... oh and he introduced me to another chinese girl, Jing, on the 3rd floor. so hopefully i can practice with her too. I definitely need to work on my tones and my vocabulary... that's the most important part. Vocab... sigh... why am i chinese-illiterate? whyyy??
So we had a meeting this past week for duPont scholars (people who won the full scholarship to UD) and to initiate the 9 freshmen, they had a sprite chugging contest. I was awful. i'm going to blame it on my asian-ness and inability to drink. Whether that's a good thing or not, i dont know. And then we walked to Cafe Gelato to get gelato! Yummy. Then we just hung around and talked. I met my mentor family (my mentor and her mentor and then my half-grand-mentor and his mentee [half-uncle-mentor?]) and hopefully we're going out to dinner tonight! They're all so nice. Some went out to party, but I don't think i would've liked that. but who knows. i had enough fun talking. And then the other day i had dinner with my mentor and her friends which was fun. She likes to laugh a lot... she's a cognitive science major and neuroscience minor? Something like that. but that's awesome cuz those are totally my interests!
Last night we had speeches for leadership positions in our complex... but i didn't run for anything. i dont think the residence people do much... i'd rather be an RA or Honors Fellow cuz they're cooler. :D our people are amazing. Last night we had a hall party during quiet hours, and they just let it go cuz there was so much unity in the hallway. We were singing along to Adam's laptop songs and just bobbing our heads while some people did their homework... and then i beat eddie at slide but lost to keith... That's okay though. i can live with that.
There's just so much going on! Sorry for not keeping up with this more often... i should that way the entries aren't so outrageously long. I miss everyone! My hubby and my buddies... i hope everyone's doing well. i'll post again soon!
